To know where you are. Taken from the book of Romans 12:13 ” Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgement, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. The first and greatest barrier to change in any area of your life is pride. We walk around trying to impress people and pretend like we’ve got it all together. The problem is, if you want to have a lasting change in your life, you first have to humble assess your current state and admit that you don’t have it all together. Evaluate where you are so that you can know where you should go.
Ephesians 4:22 says ” Throw off your old sinful nature and former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. ” Change requires making choices. It’s not enough to dream of changing. It’s not enough to desire change. In order for you to change, you will need to make decision. You must choose change. Change is intentional: Are you going to be different to start the year? Are you going to be better this year? Are you going to be more like God wants you to be?I an tell your answer right now: It will only happen if you choose to change, because it isn’t going to happen accidentally. It requires a choice. What practical steps do you need to take?
Let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.- Ephesians 4:23. Change requires new thinking. In order to change, we must learn the truth and start making good choices but, but we also must change the way we think. The battle for sin starts in your mind, not in your behavior. The way you think determines the way you feel, and the way you feel determines the way you act. If you want to change the way you act, you start by changing the way you think. In addition if you want to change the way you feel, you must start with changing the way you think.
It is always right to visit and comfort to a friend in their downs but be careful to utter your comforting words. Job 2:13 ” Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and nights. No one said a word to Job, for they saw that his suffering was too great for words”.
” Am I certain that God, who work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns- Philippians 1:6 ” God’s word will never change your life until you let it become personal. It’s not about our neighbor, your friend, your spouse, or the stranger down the street. God’s Word must be applied to your life. The BIBLE won’t become dynamic until it becomes specific. Meditate on the Bible and always ask God’s purpose for your life.
Everyday we face different challenges by the time you wake up till the time you go back to bed at night to get some rest , for tomorrow is another day and life God has provided. During the working hours while your body and mind are focused on the daily routines, stress and problems often come present . Shivering, sweating, headaches, mood swings are most often manifested and yet you begin to wonder why?. Have you try to paused for 3 minutes or more and listen? The Book of Psalms 28:7-9 ” The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him. The lord is their strength ,and He is the saving strength of his anointed. Save my people, and bless thine inheritance ; feed them also, and lift them up forever. It may have another day of burden but the words of the Lord is not changing it is always constant, still and mighty.
What kind of giving is worship? There you can give God that he needs. But when you give him an offering, you’re saying ” God, I love you. I’m thinking of you. I want you first in my life.” God wants your heart more than anything else. He doesn’t want your money. He wants what it represents. The most sensitive nerve in the body is the one that goes from the heart to the wallet. What kind of attitude do you think God wants you to have when you give? How does your current attitude compare to that?
Christian is a minister. Nothing is insignificant when you serve God. Not every Christian is a pastor, but every Christian is to be a minister. That means you use your talents and gifts to make a contribution in life, to be a giver, not taker. Taken from the book of Ephesians 2:10 ” ” God.. has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago he planned that we should spend these lives helping others.” God did not put you on earth just to live for yourself. He wants you to make the world a better place. What seemingly small or insignificant thing God has asked you to do in ministry toward which you need to change your attitude?
Why you need a Church family? Corinthians 5:14 ” Christ’s love has the first and last word in everything we do. Our firm decision ids to work from this this focused center.” You cannot fulfill the five purposes of worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, evangelism on your own. Life is not a solo act. You were created for community. The only way you can fulfill God’s five purposes in your life is with people in your life who are giving you spiritual input. You need a church family! Worship the antidote for worry less, worship more. When you start to worry, worship and praise God instead.
